How About Dinner with Royalty?
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him." - Revelation 3:20
I don't know whether you've ever been invited to the White House or ever been asked to make an appearance at Buckingham Palace, but wouldn't it be amazing to have the President of the United States or the Queen of England desire to visit your home? Even more amazing, there is a King who represents royalty and power, greater than anyone, who desires to do just that.
The Bible tells us that King is Jesus Christ, the King of kings. Jesus talks about our life like it's a home. He says He is standing outside the door of our lives. He's knocking and hoping we'll invite Him in. If you do open the door and invite Him in, He promises to enter. When He comes into your life, He brings meaning, companionship, strength and love to face the demands of life. He brings everything you need to live a complete and purposeful life.
How about it? Why not open the door today and you can have dinner with the King of kings, forever and ever.
Comments on this Devotion
From ATA on May 19th:
Just had to comment on this. Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.
Sad to say, I would NOT want this sitting traitor of a president to visit my house.
Pastors, you need to stand up and speak out against the evils that is being done by our polititians running this country. Namely, abortion and more. Remember, seperation of church and state means the 'state' shall not put any one religion up above another. You can preach/call them out by name and inform your flocks who is wrong and who is right without retribution from the 'state'. STAND UP and be counted in those pulpits!!! CALL EVIL by it's name!!!
From Jerry on May 19th:
I love this particular scripture and yes we have used it many times to help convince the lost to open their heart to Jesus, and they should do this even as they read this devotion. But the truth of the matter, when this was being told to John on the Isle of Pat-mos, it was Christ doing the talking. He was talking to the church, he had been put out and he was standing at the door of the church, so to speak, wanting the church to let him back in. I am afraid this is happening today, we have put Christ out of the church and are trying to run it without him. I hope the church will open the door again and allow the Lord to come back in and take his place, where he should be and that is at the head of it, leading it.
From RFTH on May 20th:
ATA, although we understand your sentiments, Bryant was not speaking about any specific President of the United States, merely referring to the status that position holds. I assure you that Bryant stands up in the pulpit for everything he believes is right and true, according to the Scriptures. The best thing we can do for any person in the position of President is to pray for him/her while in office and vote for and/or against the things as you believe. Yes, we as Christians need to stand up against what is wrong, but the pulpit is not the place for any pastor to make a judgment call on who should or should not be in office. The Bible clearly states that we are to obey our government (as long as it doesn't go against God's law) and to pray for our leaders. And that, I can assure you, all of us, especially Bryant, will continue to do.
Thank you for your comments and we are thankful to have you as part of the RFTH devotion family.

From Jerry on May 20th:
Gunk, You are a hard person to follow, I get confused by the time I get through reading your posts. But have a blessed evening.
From Grant on May 20th:
Jesus was criticized by the Pharisees for who he went to dinner with, and it wasn't presidents or kings. On the other hand, Jesus, in turn, criticized the Pharisees for always wanting the best seat at dinner and the spotlight in public.
It has been the most rewarding thing imaginable to have Jesus come through the door to this home I call my life. How much greater it will be when we all sit down at the banquet with Him in His Home!
Jerry, can't say I can always follow Gunk either. I don't think he is a linear thinker. More of a "right brain" thinker. But, I enjoy trying.
:-)
From Grant on May 21st:
PS: I don't think that the President or the Queen would insist on washing my feet either!
