A Request From The White House Feb 08 2009
"God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful." - 1 Corinthians 1:9
God pleads with us to regularly spend time with Him, talking about our issues and seeking His guidance. Yet, even though we are offered this remarkable privilege, we are reluctant to make that commitment or to carve out any meaningful time with Him. We treat this offer with complete nonchalance. Does that even make sense?
Think about it this way. Suppose there is a voicemail on your phone when you get home from work today. It's a call from the White House operator, who says, "The President would like to spend some one-on-one time with you this week. Just about 30 minutes to get to know you a little better and to see what the President can do for you." Your first thought would be, "This must be a joke. Who is messing with me?" But what if you found out the call was real, and the President really did want to spend time with you? My guess is you'd be excited and feel pretty special!
But did you know that any President of the United States is small in importance and power when compared to God? Think about how quickly you'd jump to go spend time with the President. Then think about the awesome privilege that the God of the universe continually gives us to spend one on one time with Him. No greater privilege indeed.

Yes, report it Nevermindsurely the devotion is a good one, however, never would I spend time with the present president - seems a little too political / truly we need to offer more time to our Lord!

Yes, report it NevermindMartha,
Even though a person may not agree with any particular president, to say we would never spend time with him means that we would not have time to wittness to him about the Lord or to share our testimony with him. I would love to have the chance to spend time with the president, I want to share the Lord with everyone. I have been told that I am very strange about things like this, I even love it when Jehova Wittness's come to visit, I will sit with them for as long as they will stay and talk about my belief and understanding of the scriptures. Please don't ever miss a chance to share the Gospel with someone. God bless everyone and hae a great day.

Yes, report it NevermindJust imagine what it would be like to be able to go back and join that walk on the road to Emmaus. To hear several hours of what was probably the greatest explanation of The Scriptures ever. I think that's the kind of opportunity today's message is getting at. We may not be able to "time travel", but we can still spend time with our Lord and Savior.
