Those Who Have Not Heard Aug 27 2008
"...since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." - Romans 1:19-20
God makes it clear that everybody has to answer to Him whether they've heard about Christ or not. As Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me." Have you ever thought that it just doesn't seem fair that those who have never heard the word will be judged the same way as those who have rejected His message?
There are some key things we must keep in mind. One, God is fair and just. He is going to do the right thing. Secondly, this is why the church has been given the Great Commission and called to take the gospel to the entire world. This command should give us a passion for the missionary endeavor to get out the good news. It should motivate us to spread the word personally as well as support those who make missionary work their full-time calling.
But what if we don't succeed in this and a person never has the opportunity to hear about Christ? We know the only way this unreached person will receive salvation is through what Christ has done on the cross. But every person will eventually have to answer to God. How God deals with all of that is something we must simply leave in His hands.

Yes, report it NevermindThe last word shown for the Romans 1:18 verse should not be-be.

Yes, report it Nevermindthis isn't taken from Romans 1:18 which reads: For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.

Yes, report it NevermindOuch. Our mistake. That scripture reference should be Romans 1:19-20 and not Romans 1:18. It's fixed now on the site, but we obviously can't fix what we've already sent out by email. Thanks for the correction.

Yes, report it NevermindEven though Jesus did so much for us on the earth, I find it very difficult for me to try to bring a non-believer to Christ. It is hard enough for a believer to get closer to God, so how am I supposed to reach at least one person? I know God works through me and that He works in mysterious ways, but do the little things really do add up? And not everyone can be saved, so how do we decide who's worth saving or not.

Yes, report it NevermindThat is the wonderful part - WE don't decide. Our job is to share the salvation message. And some may believe after hearing it 1 or 100 or 1000 times. As hard as it is, we shouldn't take it personal if the time you share doesn't result in instant salvation -- just plant the seed.

Yes, report it NevermindStella, I think we are suppose to pray for opportunities to reach people and we are suppose to also be available and not too busy to stop what we are doing and live up to any opportunities God puts before us. I have heard my pastor say something along the lines that someone else planted the seed, then another someone(s) watered the seed and sometimes he gets to be the one to harvest. It is not for us to decide who is worthy. For that matter, not one of us is worthy. It is only by God's grace that any of us go through the process. I really appreciated today's devotion especially the part at the end about leaving it in His hands.

Yes, report it NevermindStella, the little things really do add up. I imagine it's harder to recognize for a believer who grew up in the church and accepted Christ at an early age. I don't know if that describes you, but I was saved a little later in life (twenties), and I can remember encounters with believers, including the person in college who really took the time to speak with me about salvation and loaned me some books to read. He has no idea I am a Christian now, so I look forward to seeing him in heaven. Not too long after I had last seen him I received a stupid little fire and brimstone pamphlet I got in the mail one day that finally got me on my knees. That ridiculous piece of literature would never have had an affect on me had it not been for the earlier encounters with others. I call it stupid, but God will use whatever and whoever is available to get his point across and bring someone closer to Him. I still have that pamphlet with my signature and the date on it, so it is actually very special to me, as well.
I like something that Christian philosopher Greg Koukl says. When he speaks with an unbeliever, he realizes he usually cannot change their thinking right there or bring them to Christ. His goal is to "put a stone in their shoe". In other words, he wants them to leave the conversation with something that makes them think (and actually makes them uncomfortable). Something that challenges their world view as they've always known it. God will then bring others into their life to build on that foundation.

Yes, report it NevermindTher are many ways to get the Gospel out to the Nations but the greatest to me is how God does it in the beauty of nature. There is nothing that shows the attributes of God any better than just by looking at what he has created for us to enjoy. I can see him in a sun set or just by looking at some woods. God bless everyone and have a good day.

Yes, report it NevermindStella, If you want to reach someone then just live for Christ even when you are alone, live as if you are were on a stage and everyone was watching you. This may be how you can be a wittness for Christ. Not all are called to lead people, some are called to to just live it. My computer didn't pick up the other comments when I posted my earlier comment so it seems out of line with everyone elses, I sorry for that.
