End of the World Jun 03 2008

"The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance." - 2 Peter 3:9

There is a lot of focus these days on doomsday movie scenarios. Movies like I Am Legend and War of the Worlds envision a deadly virus that will kill everyone. Others worry that aliens from other worlds will overtake us, and boom! It's all over.

What do you think?

God destroyed the world once with a flood when mankind was so bad they made Him sick. In the end, God will destroy the world with fire. But there's a reason He hasn't done it yet. Consider His words: "He is waiting because He desires for none to perish and He is giving more time for sinners to repent." That's in the Bible.

Hey, is that you? God loves each of you so much that He wants all to be saved by Him, but His patience will eventually wear out because of the evil of our world. When it does, will you be toast or will you be safe in heaven?

Everyone is offered this pre-paid gift of salvation-from-hell and eternal-life-in-heaven.... all we have to do is accept it. Like a homeless orphan accepts new clean sturdy clothes and a new home and new family, if he will surrender his dirty stinking old clothes and just step into the house. It is not really a free gift because we do have to give up our old life for a new one.... but the old life is not worth much in the eternal scheme of things... so it seems like a good deal to trade it in for one of infinite value. Is "being your own god" in this short earthly life really worth rejecting the best deal ever?

The end of the world movies and books are all wrong. Jesus referred to the end of the age, not world. He said the meek shall inherit the earth....for 15 minutes before it's gone? That's no inheritance.
He is to rule the earth for ever and ever, according to the scriptures and he cannot do that if it is destroyed.
Relax your worries, work hard....build your faith.

Diann you are correct, the present heaven and earth will be destroyed to completely cleanse it from the effects of sin (11Peter 3:7). There will be no more sea because climatic and human conditions will be completely different.

My husband and I were at a funeral this morning, won't say which denomination, but not what I believe. The point is,with what this person believed, it was sad to think she could be prayed into Heaven now.It is our choice"For God so loved the world, He gave his only begotten son, for whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life?" Whosoever, it is each persons choice and when they are gone it is then too late. Such a sad, sad funeral. Everyone reading this, find our Lord Jesus before it is too late, please~

Steven, i agree with your point for the most part, but I get hung up on your comment about the gift not being free. What you said, is like me saying "This guy bought me lunch because I was starving, but I had to eat it." You have to be careful when using analogies. You dont want to "frustrate" the word of God. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your saviour, your going to want to give up the old ways. It won't all happen at the get go... it's an indwelling of the God's spirit that will provide the desire to change. I think this is what you believe, but it was just that "not free" comment that threw a flag in my mind.

Just because we make an action to accept a gift does not mean it is not free. Also, the Holy Spirit draws us to accept the gift so that drawing of our being to accept Christ is free, too. Some people accept the free gift of salvation without doing the work to make changes in their lifestyle. That is their choice to not have life abundantly. They remain immature Christians who will not receive as many rewards in heaven as those who work to replace the old man (or woman) with the new man (or woman) and bear much fruit. The work of lifechange is not the same as working to receive salvation.

I don't believe that the world will be distroy. New world new government that's what God promess and that's what will take place when Jesus returns. These days people trying to explore Mars to see if we can live up there. God did not build this world to be destroy the people living one it will be destroy. Why our priest is puting that notion into peoples mind that this world will be destroyed. I'm studying the Bible and found that topic is creating some confusion amongs people's mind set. My question will be to everyone If the world was destroyed before how come we are still leaving on it?

Walker,
God saved Noah's family for the purpose of raising new people to fill the earth. The people and animals were destroyed but the vegestation was left. We are here because we are to worship him. That is mans job, it is ordained of God.
