All Things Work For Good? May 27 2008
"And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." - Romans 8:28
Some people believe the Bible teaches, "All things work together for good," but this is nuts! All things don't work together for good for those who die and wind up in hell!
What the Bible does teach is that all things can work together for good for those who love God and are living in His will. We have to love God through Jesus Christ and live according to His teaching in Scripture. To believe anything or to live any way we want nullifies the truth of this verse.
But when we love God and are living for Him, then with any tragedy, any suffering, God can bring good. For with every tragedy and every setback, our choice is to grow bitter or to trust God to bring good out of the greatest grief and difficulty. I hope you'll choose to trust God, even when life doesn't make sense. Look for the good that God can bring.

Yes, report it NevermindUh... just a logical clarification. You said, "To believe anything (we want) or to live any way we want nullifies the truth of this verse." Well, I'm sure you did not mean that it nullifies the aprori truth of the Word of God... but it does nullify it's power in our lives.... it is a promise to those who "love God and are living for Him," not a promise for everyone, eh?

Yes, report it NevermindThis verse gives the Christian the hope to see the good beyond the bad. It also glorifies God because it brings attention to what He is able to accomplish, how He causes seemingly unrelated situations to fit together in something like a giant jigsaw puzzle to make a beautiful picture out of what appeared to be ugly pieces. He holds all the pieces and when He puts them together for the Christian there is a good outcome. All glory to God!

Yes, report it Nevermindyeah Dad. err... Steven McG. You can't change the truth of scripture. But some people want to "have their cake and eat it too" and don't believe in absolute truth. Perhaps this is a good clarification for them.
