The Truth

"Jesus answered ...'Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.'" - John 18:37

In the spring of 2001, the collision of an American spy plane and a Chinese fighter jet caused both governments to blame each other. Two governments, two nations, but each had completely different views of the truth. By the very definition of truth, both could not be right. Yet many people from every religious persuasion have embraced universalism: the idea that every religion is equally valid and all men can get to God and heaven their own way.

Consider what Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, the life. No one comes to the Father but through me." If all religions are a valid way to God, then Jesus was not telling the truth. And if Jesus was not telling the truth, He is not the only way. Truth, by definition, means that one statement is true and a contradicting statement is false.

Either Jesus is truth or universalism is truth. What do you believe? I believe Jesus.

Jesus IS the truth! We must obey what HE said in John 3. You must be born again or you can not see or enter the Kingdom of God. "Salvation is found in the book of Acts." - Larry Bryan

You gotta love the Truth. Besides, universalism is obviously self-contradictory. How do people believe that junk? - Austin

Over the years I have learned from having people working for me and being around people the truth is something that has almost become extinct. A lie doesn't care who tells it or how it is told. As long as there are people there will be lies. The hard part of being a liar is remembering how you have told it so you can tell it the same way each time. Wheather it is why someone laid out of work or why they laid out of church lieing has become an art. If I want to really know the truth from someone, before I ask them I will slip over and ask their children what happened. You will be surprised what you can learn from children. Once they become teenagers they have listened to their parents and have learned to follow their example and they will begin to lie also. When will people learn that it so much easier just to tell the truth to start with. Then you don't have to worry if you have been caught in the lie. The Bible even shows us that there will not be any liars in heaven. Christ is the truth and we will do well to follow him and leave all others alone. God Bless all. - Jerry

Well, Jerry, I wouldn't say that kids learn how to lie from their parents. Now that I am a parent, it is obvious to me that we are indeed born as sinners. Kids start lying shortly after they start talking. Your're right that they will be less likely to lie "for" their parents, but have no problem lying "to" their parents, even at three or four years old. And, parents who do not teach their children the "truth" of right and wrong, or as you say, those who provide a bad example in this area, will be raising and encouraging natural-born liars. - Rick Y

christ is deff. telling the truth! - Haley

There is a 3rd logical possibility... that neither are true. - Steve

Good point, Steve. - Austin

Those of us that have accepted Christ as Lord and Savior and have had our lives turned totally around because of it have no problem knowing that Jesus is who He said He was- He IS the way, the truth and the life and we will know this through having a personal relationship with Him if we truly believe and ask Him to come into our lives and accept Him not only as Savior, but as Lord of our lives. I feel like He is faithful to save us if we ask Him to, but we cannot truly have a relationship with Him unless we also accept Him as the Lord of our lives. Only then can we truly know Him and know the truth. - Christ Follower

I AM JUST NOT SURE WE INTURIPT EVERYTHING JESUS SAID EXACTLY AS HE MEANT IT. THE JEWISH NATION HASN'T ACCEPTED CHRIST BUT I BELIEVE THEY ARE GOING TO SEE GOD'S FACE. WE ACCEPT THE FACT THAT ELIJAH WENT TO HEAVEN IN A CHARIOT OF FIRE BUT BEFORE JESUS EVER BECAME HUMAN. I GUESS THE BEST THING IS TO WORRY ABOUT GETTING MYSELF there and not judge everyone else. - John
