You Can't Take It With You
"For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either." - 1 Timothy 6:7
I've been a pastor for many years, and have attended a lot of funerals. But I've never seen a moving van following the hearse.
Think about the priorities and the interests in your life. How much time is spent acquiring and hoarding things you simply can't take with you? The Bible states that we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take any stuff out of it either. It's good to focus on the things that last--like God and building eternal treasure.

A friend of mine has the outlook on this subject like this. If your children are doing okay in their life and don't really need something, then spend your money and enjoy life and if you have anything left when you die then leave it to them. If you don't have anything to leave them, well then they can earn their own fortune. When my Dad died all I was left was some bills to help pay. After this I survived and I have advised my Mother to enjoy herself. My memories of their happiness is worth more than any money they could have left me. We want to have a good life, then why can't our parents. This may sound selfish but it is how I feel. I know this doesn't make good sense to the wall street crowd but down deep most of us really feel the same way. God Bless and remember you can't take it with you.

I agree with you 100% jerry. They did enough for us children, they should enjoy their lives, we should be giving to them anyway.

That is another devotion I can wholeheartedly agree with. There is too much emphasis on worldly goods and not enough on spiritual matters. Possessions come and go, but the soul last for ever.
