Know Thyself Jul 27 2007

"...that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection..." - Philippians 3:10

The person we spend the most time with is our self, so we tend to be pretty interested in ourselves. I ask you: Do you really like yourself? Would you rather be somebody else? Are you realistic about your strengths and weaknesses?

Socrates gets credit for saying, "Know thyself," even though what he really said, was, "the unexamined life is not worth living." Either way, the message is clear. Knowing ourselves is a key to a meaningful life.

Let me go a step further. Since God is your Creator and He knows you better than anyone, why don't you get to know God personally? Then you'll get to know yourself--the real you--better than you ever could on your own. God gives us the way to know Him through Jesus and His Word. If you get to know Him, you'll come to know yourself and why you're here. You'll be on the road to a very meaningful life.

I've never liked myself that much.
That is until I let Jesus in my life.
Now I realize that that old 70's saying is true, "I know I'm somebody, cause God don't make no junk".
I've been blessed with a God and a beutiful family that loves me.
Can't ask for more then that.
Thank you
Garry Brown

It takes a very honest person to admit that Garry and I give you alot of credit for it. I like myself but I feel a huge void of emptiness without a relationship with the lord. With him, I feel the power to not only be happy, but try and make others happier which is much more gratifying.

I, in the past 3 months have learned through faith that Christ makes NO mistakes. For the past 12 years I have lost the meaning of self love, and wallowed in self pity. I know God has an immaculate plan laid out for me and I intend to walk in love, through HIM, not only for myself, but for my children, friends and family. God Bless you.

So let me get this straight- If you want to know you then you should get to know God because God knows you better than you know you? Why not just cut out the middle man and get to know yourself? Or does he really mean that getting to know God can help you avoid getting to know the real you, which isn't always fun.

God gives us the Way (the Word) to know how to be the best we can be. How would I be able to know what I can be without God's influence and working in my life through Jesus and study of the Word? I do feel frustration that I do not always live up to God's highest standards but if we confess and repent He is quick to put us on the right path again.
