Going Home Nov 20 2007

"So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him." - Luke 15:20

Robert Frost wrote, "Home is the place where when you have to go there, they have to take you in." There's no place like home. No matter how bad we mess up or how disappointing life gets, it's the one place they have to take us in.

Jesus told of a wayward son who messed up big time, wasting all his dad had blessed him with. He became homeless and was so hungry he wanted to eat leftover slop fit only for animals. But when he came to his senses, he thought about home. He knew he didn't deserve to go there, but he went anyway. And his dad was so overwhelmed with joy he welcomed him home.

The dad represents God, and the wayward son represents you and me. It's Jesus' way of telling us that we all mess up--but nobody messes up so badly that when he decides to come home to the Lord, the Lord won't welcome him back to a right relationship with Him. Is it time for you to come home to the Lord?

AMEN!!! Our Almighty is so generous with his love, mercy and grace. I have been going through a dry spell on my walk with the Lord, I want to feel His presence so badly. I want to be His. I feel lost and lonely without this closesness. Christine

Praise God from whom all blessings flow. I must concur with today's devotion. We serve a gracious, and benevolent God. I am grateful, He does not look at us as humans do. He sees the potential in us, and what we can become. And when we mess up big time on this journey called life, His grace, and mercy is there to clean us, forgive us, and restore us to Himself. Now, this is epitome of LOVE. Who would not worship a God like this? Glory to His Holy, and Righteous Name. Hallelujah, what a Savior!! Please, forgive me, I tend to get excited to know, that if I fail, I have an advocate interceding for me, and would welcome me back into the fold. He is the Good Shepherd, and for this, I give Him all the praise. Thanks for indulging and bearing with my folly. Happy Thanksgiving to you, and all of yours in Jesus' benevolent Name.

Reflecting on the Bible verse for today, it is so nice to know that even when we are "a long way off" the Father comes to us. He is always on the lookout for those who turn in His direction. James 4:8 tells us if we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. Christine, your desire to feel close to Him again will surely touch His heart and make Him eager to welcome you to Himself. God bless you.

I have a prodigal son that I am waiting for a return. My heart aches. I just have a small insight to how God feels for each one of us.

Sister Lynn, we were all prodigal sons, and daughters once upon a time. But; the Great Shepherd found us, and brought us back into His fold. And now, we are in good standing with God. Don't stop praying for your child, and I am going to lift you, and your child in my time of meditation, and prayer. I believe, God can intervene, and fix any situation, and just like God saw us, reach out to us, and embraced us, He can do the same for your child. Keep the faith, and don't stop praying. Happy Thanksgiving once more. Peace, and blessings...
