Leaders are Courageous Aug 22 2007
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." - Joshua 1:9
Obviously, leaders make things happen; they bring about change. Leaders also:
* Clearly communicate what they stand for--what their goals are. They have clear direction.
* Have an ability to motivate others to do what they want them to do. People want to follow leaders. Sometimes this is for good, sometimes it is for evil.
* Delegate. They trust in others to get the job done. They know that consistently micromanaging destroys the morale of those they are called to lead.
All these are key traits of leadership, but what separates leaders from great leaders?
I believe that it's courage - the courage to do what's right and to do what needs to be done--especially when the heat is on, people are grumbling, and times are hard. Great leaders have the courage to lead others to carry out their vision no matter how hard the course. This courage can be found in the Lord.
Leaders: God's Word says, "Be strong and courageous." Courage is the key in all great leaders.

Yes, report it NevermindBryant,
I agree, great leaders stay stedfast on the course they invision regardless of the grumblings and negative comments of others. The word tells us that God puts thoughts in the heads of our leaders to execute his plan. God tells us to follow our leaders. We should have courage, trust and obey, and always strive to do the right thing.

Yes, report it NevermindWe haven't had a leader in this country clearly communicate his goals in decades. Quite frankly, I don't trust any of our "leaders" in anything anymore. Must be the price we pay for the sinful society we live in.

Yes, report it NevermindWhen we are in a leadership position we need to stay strong, consider the group and consider the individuals. We need to pray for wisdom. When we are not the leader, we need to pray for the leader and not criticize evey decision that is made. We dont' know all the different considerations that go into every decision. This can apply to many different areas in our lives.

Yes, report it NevermindWhen we think of leardership we too often think of the workplace or politics however all of us have leadership roles in our homes with our families. Too many times we focus on leading our employees and not leading our families. The principles that God is talking about apply in both settings.
