Science Proves The Bible Is Correct Oct 14 2012

"In the beginning was the Word..." - John 1:1 NIV

There's an interesting fact, among many, found in the book of Isaiah. It was written 2700 years ago. Why is that so amazing? Because in 700 BC, the conventional wisdom was that the earth was flat. Not only did the common man think it was flat, but the intellectuals were also convinced of this. (The prevailing scientific theory was that the earth was supported on the back of a giant turtle. What the turtle was standing on has never been fully explored.)

Yet even though all mankind was convinced of the flatness of the earth, note this verse from Isaiah 40:22: "It is He who sits above the circle of the earth."

The word circle would have never been used if a mortal had written that book unassisted. But God inspired the man that wrote it, ensuring that the Bible was correct in its terminology. The Bible will always withstand scientific challenges thrown at it. In fact, not only has science never proven any part of the Bible wrong, it actually continually proves it to be right.

I have never felt the necessity to "prove the Bible". It simply is the Word of God to me.
It speaks to me in ways that go beyond my ability to understand. I guides me and comforts me, and brings me peace. It never becomes boring or irrelevant. Over the years, its words have been written on my heart.

I love how God's word continually reassures us that He IS the author!

I would have to agree with Grant. I do not feel that the bible needs to be proven. I believe in it's teachings because I have faith in God and Jesus.

I would like to say that calling the earth a "circle" in 700 B.C. might not have been that uncommon. They did belive the earth was flat, but some also thought it was circular like the moon, not a square or rectangle. If the passage would have referenced a sphere or a prism (impling earth was 3 dimenional), then I could say there was divine intervention there. I think calling it a "circle" is a little bit of a strech to prove God intervined during the writing of the bible.

The example given is a very small illustration of a meaning in the word beyond the context and storyline of that particular verse. There are many such words and phrases and some of them are genuinely mind-blowing! God said that he has concealed things in his word and we are to seek them out. The seeking and finding of the things which God has concealed for us is an amazing spiritual journey. The more I read and study the more my view changes toward taking the language in the bible less figuratively and more seriously.
I have to disagree with the idea that the bible doesn’t need to be proven. I don’t need everything proven in an exhaustive way but I do need to prove enough of it to myself so that I don’t stumble when I read something that seems too bazar to have really happened (Resurrection of Christ, the walls of Jericho, etc.). We worship a God that is incomprehensibly wise and powerful; he simultaneously occupies past, present & future and masterfully controls all of it. To rationalize away the amazing things that God does through his word is to overlook something of tremendous value; it’s like choosing to know him less intimately. Try studying it instead! 2 Timothy says “study to show yourself approved”. The Berean’s in Acts 17 were said to be of noble character, they didn’t believe anything without first checking it out. God asks us to believe that some pretty bazar things happened because of his intervention and he asks us to have faith, but he never asked us have blind faith or to be ignorant. We are encouraged to study and grow in knowledge so that we can boldly represent why we believe the things that we believe.
My kids will be teenagers soon. I sincerely hope that when they hit me with the “why” questions about God I have a good answer ready for them. I hope that I am able to answer them with accurate, sincere, coherent answers. I fear that by not adequately proving to myself that God’s word is accurate and truthful, I will not be able to have such answers.

You want Bizarre? Well, I will give you a couple of Real Life Examples.

"Oh by the way Dad I don't believe in God any more..." Now this is over Varsity Chili Dogs.

And Jesus would have loved Varsity Chili Dogs...

I just looked at him and said: "Where is the Edge of Creation? Beyond the Pulsars and the Quasars and Light Bending in Gravity Fields...and the Black Holes and the Comets...Where is the Edge"?

He rightly knew to answer Rightly and said "Dad it goes on Forever..." I told him he had answered Correctly but the Reason it goes on Forever? Is because it is Eternal just like God who Created It.

Told Him: "Now you can be a Big Banger all you like...but someday He is going to get to you..."

Second Story: This week a Cobb County Detective called me and said I was being Investigated for bugging my First Ex...By returning her calls but not leaving any message on the Machines. She went to the Cobb County Police and filed a Complaint about me calling to return her calls and emails and not leaving any messages...

I'm telling The Truth. And Then I get accused of not paying Child Support when I paid it after $1/2M since 97?

Something went into the Shredder...Social Science also proves the Scriptures...Some of us are Sinners and some of us are Evil.

That is the Big Picture...
