Tempted Much? Aug 13 2012
"Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone." - James 1:13
What’s your toughest temptation? Is it to lose your cool when somebody ticks you off or to cheat on a test or expense reports? Is it the temptation to overeat when you’re under stress or maybe it’s lust or pornography? Is it booze, or drugs, or some other addictive behavior? Believe me, we’re all surrounded with temptation every day of our lives.
Now, think how often we indirectly blame God for our temptations. For instance, if you struggle with obesity and you say, “Well, it is just how God made me. I just have this tendency to be overweight.” The truth is, we are the major source of our temptation to sin. We all have a sinful nature that is as old as Adam and Eve.
Here’s the good part – we have a way to resist. Jesus taught us to pray for God’s strength in the face of temptation. Then just say, “No” and mean it. Will we fail sometimes? Of course we will. When we do, ask God to forgive you, which He will through Christ. Then ask for strength to never do THAT again!

Yes, report it NevermindI felt tempted just last night at my sister house. She invited me over to celebrate my birthday. I had a wonderful time with my family and friends, up until the alcohol was brought out. In my mind I began to reason with the word of God, Saying, "Jesus turned water into wine for me to drink." But why would I want to after all this time of not drinking. Because it's my B-day and every one else is doing it? I told my flesh NO! This was not a good enough reason to do what I never felt God impressed upon my heart to do. Excellent devotion today!

Yes, report it NevermindWay to go, Syreeta!
I too fight that old demon. Ten years and counting..
I hear people say all the time, "Well, God made me that way, so how can he condemn me for it?"
That applies to many many types of deviant behavior. But, God also said that He wouldn't give us more than we could handle if we ask for His help. I have found that to be an amazing truth.
