When Does A Baby Become A Baby? Apr 22 2012

"I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made..." - Psalm 139:14a, 16

About half of the people in the United States say they are pro-life and the other half say they are pro-choice. How is this affiliation determined? For the most part, if you consider a fetus nothing but a blob of tissue within a woman's body, you become pro-choice. If you believe that a fetus is a human being, you are pro-life. Who is right? Let's see what God says.

The Psalmist says, "For You formed my inward parts; you wove me in my mother's womb." And then he goes on to say, "Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Your book were written all the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them." God is the Creator of life, and each life is formed within a woman's womb. Scripture is clear: a fetus is most certainly a human being from the moment of conception.

Some say that a fetus is nothing but a blob. God says a fetus is a person. Whose conclusion do you think is correct?

God also says every criminal is a person too. So I hope you all are anti capital punishment.

It is clear from biological science that it is not a blob, but an unborn human being.

And, JCO, there is a difference between killing an innocent and defenseless human being, and capital punishment. Someone can be against abortion but okay with capital punishment, self defense and killing combattents in a just war. Those positions are consistent. What is not consistent is when many liberals argue against capital punishment, but are perfectly fine with abortion.

Ricky, Thou Shall Not Kill, is a 10 Commandment. Look it up. Which part of the rule are you not understanding?

Look it up in something other than the King James, Jonathan. It says "Thou Shall Not Murder". The original King James (translated in the 1,600s) does not differentiate between Hebrew words that mean kill with the Hebrew word used in the Ten Commandments, which translates as an intentional killing without cause. You should also look up Romans 13, which says "rulers do not bear the sword for no reason."

I think killing is wrong, period. I guess that makes me the better atheist.

Period? Would you kill someone who was about to kill?

I meant to say: "Would you kill someone who was about to kill you?" But, that brings up another interesting question. Would you kill someone if they were about to kill someone else?

By the way, I do not consider either of those things to be murder if you are truly defending yourself or some other innocent person, and that is your only reasonable option.
