What We Treasure Aug 11 2010

"...but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Matthew 6:20-21

I chuckled a while back when I read a magazine cartoon that showed a news conference called by a United States senator who announced that he was divorcing his family so he could spend more time with politics.

We may scoff at the folly of his announcement, but the truth is that many people make that same statement everyday. Maybe not with words, but with their actions. So many more, in fact, that if a politician retires from his work to spend more time with his family, it becomes the lead story met with cynicism on the evening news, while the one who rejects his family advancing his career is too plentiful to notice.

God tells us we should work hard and that we should work heartily to the glory of God. But He has clearly shown that we must have priorities. Pleasing God and meeting the needs of the family must have high priority. Think about the priorities and the things you cherish in your life. The Bible says that we have brought nothing into this world and we can take nothing out of it. It's good to focus on the things that last, like putting God first and then family, both of which build eternal treasures.

Yes, report it Nevermind

I just praise God that I have been blessed with a wonderful husband that puts the Lord first in his life and in doing so treats his family according to His will and loving me as Christ loved the church. I am greatly blessed!

Take a momment and pray for all of those who so desperately need a job, any job, in these most difficult economic times. I have had to "re-invent" myself several times over the past several years, but I have been blessed to find some work.

There is a famine in the land and it's just as dangerous as any Old Testament famine ever was.
