Signs of Jesus' Return Apr 11 2010

"But of that day and hour no one knows..." - Matthew 24:36

One of the teachings of Jesus is that He will come again. He very clearly teaches about signs of His coming:

An increase in false teachers and messiahs. False teaching is contrary to God's written word; we see this today not only in cults, but also inside and outside the church.

Wars and rumors of wars. The 20th century was the bloodiest and worst century in all history. What will the 21st century hold?

Increase in natural disasters. Earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, famines and floods.

He says these occurrences are like birth pangs. With the onset of labor, birth pangs increase in frequency and intensity as birth approaches. This is very revealing in reflecting on the "signs" of which Jesus speaks.

Yet He clearly states, "No one knows the time." If someone sets a time, you can be sure he is a false prophet because no one knows the time. We need to be ready all the time. One thing is for sure, however, birth pangs keep increasing.

We don't know the time, but we do know that he will return. When he does "every knee will bow before him". Not every Christian knee; every knee - believer and non-believer. For me, it will be an act of love, obedience and great joy.

PS: I didn't get to answer Erik's question before the devotional was closed. I don't know that you are not among the elect. God might be waiting to draw you at his pleasure. I pray that he does. In any event, your life is a part of his plan. Not one molecule is running loose in the universe that's not under his control.

JCO- The rudeness you displayed in the your last tirade disqualifies you from any serious consideration. If you had been in my home, I would have thrown you out, and I consider this site a home. Please just go away. You really are a bore and a boor.

JCO,
I KNOW he will return. Since the Bible is the authority it is replete with Scripture declaring that truth. Get a concordance and look up the Scriptures that have the word return in them. You don't believe in the Bible. That doesn't make it any less God's authority. I look at man who thinks he is the "captain of my soul" a la Invictus and my heart aches for the pride and arrogance that would shut out a holy God. But, I did the same thing for so many years and praise Him for His abundant mercy that saved a wretch like me. We all continue to pray for you and Erik and our sovereign God has plans for you two.
