If He Parted the Red SeaDec 04 2009
"Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD swept the sea back by a strong east wind all night and turned the sea into dry land, so the waters were divided." - Exodus 13:21
We all have times when we feel we have no options. Maybe we're in a job crisis and we feel there is just no way out. Sometimes we don't even have a job, money is rapidly running out, and we're beginning to feel despair. Or maybe you are a student with a 55 average going into a final exam in a course you must have to graduate. Sometimes it's in a marriage that seems hopeless. There are many possible scenarios, but they all have this in common: It seems like we've run out of options and we don't know what to do. We feel trapped in a hopeless situation with no possible way out.
We can learn how to face these crises by remembering the children of Israel. They faced a stormy sea to the front and Egyptian soldiers to the rear. Talk about having no options...they truly had no way out! But, if you'll remember, God led them from desperation to complete victory. Realize that the same God who parted the Red Sea is standing beside you whenever you think you're out of options. There is no lasting defeat for children of God; He always gives us the option of allowing Him to lead us, teach us, and build our faith. If He parted the Red Sea for the people of faith, then through faith, no situation is hopeless.

He did more than part the Red Sea. He put a pillar of fire between Israel and their enemies, the armies of Pharaoh. - Judy
Amen. And this is why the health and wealth gospel of the Joel Osteen's of the world is so damaging. We all will face trials in this life. Everything doesn't always work out for you just because you are a Christian. Paul was the greatest evangelist ever, but his life was one of great persecution and suffering and ended with his beheading. But, his life was one of the most lastingly transformative live ever lived. He never lost faith that God was using him and he was obedient to the end.

This is a wonderful devotion to remind us of how great God is and how He has solutions that are far superior to what we can think or imagine.
Grant, I was just this morning thinking of a friend who appreciates the message of Joel Osteen and I have to keep reminding myself that it is the start of her spiritual journey. He has got her thinking about things she did not consider before. I am not defending him and his message but just saying that he may open doors for some people but I just hope they don't get stuck in his house. God could use him as a stepping stone in someone's path of faith. I just hope that those who are attracted to his message and the messages of those like him will not get discouraged and give up on God when they find out it doesn't always play out as suggested by those pastors. For the Christian even if the worst happened which many would consider death, we know that our Lord has overcome death for us. Only the shell of our body dies but our soul lives on with Jesus in heaven. God is so-o-o-o GREAT! - Janice
There has been times in my life that I felt like the children of Israel when they looked back and saw Pharoah's army approaching. God provided just what they needed just in his time, there is a difference between this and the saying, just in time. God has allways provided my need. Not allways did he provide my wants but sometimes he even did that. I am just thankful he is God. - Jerry
AMEN!! This is so true. God will provide all things, and we must never forget as Christians that this journey is not easy because if it was, EVERYONE would be doing it. Keep the faith. God is wonderful and even if he doesn't give you what you want, He always gives you what you need! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!!! - Kerri
