Trials Aug 01 2007

"Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life." - James 1:12

There's an Arab proverb that goes like this: "All sunshine makes for a desert." Have you ever thought of life that way?

All of us want things to go our way all the time, but we have to admit that life doesn't work like that. Hard times come. Relationships are damaged. Financial worries plague us. There are even times of war. Yes, the clouds and the storms really do come.

Jesus said, "In this world, you will have trouble." But the good news is, He didn't stop there. He also said, "Take heart. I have overcome the world." Yes, trouble is a fact of life. But Jesus has given us a means of finding victory--the real victory--even in hard times.

Won't you allow Him to provide all you need to face the good times and the bad? He's willing and able to provide triumph, even when things look the darkest. Put your trust in Jesus Christ.

I am reading "Calm My Anxious Heart" by Linda Dillow. She discusses topics such as being content, fighting greed and truly giving your anxieties over to God. This devotional goes along so well with what I am reading. We prove that we don't trust God when we worry about our tomorrows.
Thank you for your words today.

After paying my sons college tuition on line this morning, I went directly to my email for todays devotion. Financial struggles are on, a stricter budget is in place as well as a promise from the Lord. He will provide! And His timing is always perfect!!!

I am constantly amazed by God's grace. He is all seeing and all knowing. I needed this devotion today. I received an email this morning from someone that was a very dear friend of mine several years ago. She was in my wedding and we were there to support each other and husbands during the birth of children. She walked away from that friendship with no explanation and left me devestated. I have missed her but moved on. When I got that email this morning a flood of emotions came. I will trust in God, I will lay this at his feet. I will have the strength to do the right thing.

The Arab proverb is so true! God will mold and shape us as we go through inevitable trials. And it is only through these times that our relationship with Jesus grows stronger. I praise Him for getting me through very tough times this past couple of years and thank you for these devotionals and important reminders! I'm hoping to memorize today's scripture in James. Such a great one to comfort and encourage us!! God Bless.

It seems that I only turn to God during trouble. I cry out to him then to help. I forget to praise him for the good times. Thank you for the devotion.

There is definitely "victory in the valley" for those who hand it over to Christ! After losing my job over 10 months ago, I have learned the true meaning of trusting in the Lord. Not once have we had to borrow money and by prayer, trust, diligence, patience and ministering to others through this testimony we have made a difference and touched many. The key is patience and trusting in the Lord in the valleys.
