Born Twice Mar 07 2009
"Jesus answered and said to him, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God.'" - John 3:3
There is a longing within everyone to be a part of a loving family that lasts. In a world of fractured marriages and dysfunctional families, that longing becomes greater. No matter what type of family we're from, God gives all of us a chance to be part of the only family that lasts. We had no choice on our earthly family but we do have a choice on entering God's family through faith.
Jesus calls this spiritual birth being "born again." We all have a physical birthday, but not all of us have a spiritual birthday. This comes when we accept God's invitation to trust in Christ as Lord and Savior. With no spiritual birth, we die twice-physically and spiritually. But, with a spiritual birth, we die just once (physically,) for our spirit lives forever.
Born once, we die twice.
Born twice, we die once.
If we're born twice, we're saved from spiritual death and we're in the family of God forever.

Yes, report it NevermindGrant...you've had 2 great points two days in a row!! Wholeheartedly agree! Those of us that are Born Again need to live by God's grace, setting the best example possible to others, but never forgetting we are sinners everyday!! If we are working too hard at "walking the walk"...we become legalisic and discouraged. But through prayer and daily talking and reading with our Father, we can relax and will appear authentic to others. Letting that Light shine to others, naturally!! There is REAL evident joy in your walk. Thanks RFTH! May God protect this wonderful country! God Bless.

Yes, report it NevermindAlways appreciate your thoughts. But in reading the Scripture it appears in talking of this new birth that it happens when one dies to sin in repentence, is buried in the waters of baptism and then rises out of the water to this "new birth". Am curious if you would agree? Rom 6:3; Col 2:12; Acts 2:38; Eph. 4:5

Yes, report it NevermindMartha-I agree, sort of. I think that the new birth is a distinct, once and forever, event. It requires true repentence of your sins, and is sealed by the baptism of faith. The baptism does not have to, nor does it usually, occur at the same moment as the new birth.
Many denominations have their own rituals of faith surrounding this and I do not wish to argue against any of their positions. If the "laying on of hands", "emersion", "confessions of faith" and the like are a part of your church, I see no wrong in it. I just believe that you are born again by faith and grace alone. Think of the thief on the cross. He could get no baptism, but he was that day with Jesus in paradise.
